Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between horizontal blinds and vertical blinds?

Horizontal blinds have slats that tilt up and down to control light, and they raise and lower vertically. Vertical blinds have slats that hang vertically and tilt side to side. Horizontal blinds work best for standard windows; vertical blinds are often used for sliding doors and wide openings.

What's the difference between blinds and shades?

Blinds have individual slats (horizontal or vertical) that tilt to control light. Shades are made from a single piece of fabric that raises and lowers. Blinds give you more precise light control by tilting the slats at different angles. Shades offer a softer, more streamlined look. Both work well — it just depends on the style and light control you’re looking for.

What if horizontal blinds aren't the right fit for my windows?

We’ve got you covered. We have plenty of shade options — roller shades, cellular shades, Roman shades, and more. During your design session, we’ll explore all your options and help you choose what’s best for your home.

Can horizontal window blinds be motorized?

Yes. Many horizontal blinds can be upgraded with PowerView® motorization for app, remote, or voice control.

Are horizontal blinds good for privacy?

Absolutely. Tilt the slats closed and no one can see in. Or angle them to let filtered light through while keeping your space private. You get complete control.

Are window blinds easy to clean?

Yes. Horizontal blinds are some of the easiest window treatments to maintain. Dust them regularly with a soft cloth or vacuum with a brush attachment. For deeper cleaning, wipe the slats with a damp cloth.

What are mini blinds?

Mini blinds have narrow slats (typically 1″ or less) and are usually made of aluminum or vinyl. They’re an affordable, low-maintenance option for basic light control and privacy.

What's the difference between Venetian blinds and mini blinds?

Venetian blinds traditionally have wider slats (2″ or larger) and are often made of wood or faux wood. Mini blinds have narrower slats (1″ or less) and are typically aluminum or vinyl. Both are horizontal blinds with tilting slats.

How much do window blinds cost?

It depends on the material and size. Aluminum mini blinds are the most affordable. Faux wood blinds and fabric blinds are mid-range. Real wood blinds are premium. The best way to get an accurate price is during a design session, where we can understand what you need and give you an exact quote.
